Einige Einträge in Kapitel 17 enthalten Fußnoten entweder als Buchstaben oder Symbole in Klammern hinter dem Namen des Produkts in Spalte a der Tabelle. Diese stellen zusätzliche Informationen über die Beförderungsanforderungen für das Produkt zur Verfügung. Die Bedeutung der Fußnoten ist nachfolgend aufgeführt. a Enthält das zu befördernde Produkt entzündbare Lösungsmittel solcher Art, dass der Flammpunkt nicht über 60 °C liegt, so müssen besondere elektrische Anlagen sowie ein Spürgerät für entzündbare Dämpfe vorgesehen werden. b Obwohl Wasser zum Löschen offener Brände von durch diese Fußnote bezeichneten Chemikalien geeignet ist, darf wegen des Risikos gefährlicher Gasentwicklung kein Wasser in geschlossene Tanks eindringen, die diese Chemikalien enthalten. c Gelber oder weißer Phosphor wird bei Temperaturen befördert, die über seiner Selbstentzündungstemperatur liegen, weshalb die Angabe des Flammpunkts hier nicht zweckmäßig ist. Kapitel 18 13 Liste der Produkte, auf die der Code keine Anwendung findet (Red. Anm.: Die aktuelle Fassung der Einstufung ist dem MEPC.2/Rundschreiben 25 "VORLÄUFIGE EINSTUFUNG FLÜSSIGER STOFFE" zu entnehmen.) 18.1 Nachstehend sind die Produkte aufgeführt, bei denen nach Überprüfung der von ihnen ausgehenden Sicherheits- und Verschmutzungsgefahren bestimmt worden ist, dass sie nicht Gefahren von einem solchen Ausmaß darstellen, welches eine Anwendung des Codes rechtfertigt. 18.2 Wenngleich die in diesem Kapitel aufgeführten Produkte nicht in den Anwendungsbereich des Codes fallen, werden Verwaltungen darauf hingewiesen, dass auch für deren gefahrlose Beförderung einige Sicherheitsvorkehrungen erforderlich sein können. Dementsprechend müssen Verwaltungen zweckmäßige Sicherheitsanforderungen vorschreiben. 18.3 Einige flüssige Stoffe werden als in die Verschmutzungskategorie Z fallend befunden und unterliegen daher bestimmten Anforderungen von Anlage II von MARPOL. 18.4 Flüssige Gemische, die nach Regel 6.3 von MARPOL Anlage II als zur Verschmutzungskategorie Z oder OS gehörig eingestuft oder vorläufig eingestuft sind und die keine Sicherheitsgefahren darstellen, dürfen gemäß der entsprechenden Eintragsposition im vorliegenden Kapitel für "Schädliche oder Nicht-Schädliche Flüssige Stoffe, die nicht anderweitig spezifiziert sind" (n.o.s. = not otherwise specified ) befördert werden. Chapter 18
Kapitel 19 13 19.1 Die erste Spalte der Zusammenstellung der als Massengüter beförderten Produkte (im folgenden als "die Zusammenstellung" bezeichnet) gibt die so genannte "Listenbezeichnung" an. Ist die Listenbezeichnung in Großbuchstaben und in Fettdruck dargestellt, so ist die Listenbezeichnung mit der Produktbezeichnung entweder in Kapitel 17 oder in Kapitel 18 identisch. Deshalb bleibt die zweite Spalte, die die jeweilige Produktbezeichnung aufführt, in diesen Fällen leer. Ist die Listenbezeichnung weder in Großbuchstaben noch in Fettdruck dargestellt, so ist sie ein Synonym für die in der zweiten Spalte enthaltene Produktbezeichnung aus entweder Kapitel 17 oder Kapitel 18 . Das einschlägige Kapitel des IBC-Code ist in der dritten Spalte angegeben. 19.2 Nach einer Überarbeitung von Kapitel 19 wurde eine vormals enthaltene Spalte mit UN-Nummern aus der Zusammenstellung entfernt. Da UN-Nummern nur für eine begrenzte Anzahl der Listenbezeichnungen verfügbar sind und es zwischen einigen der in Kapitel 19 verwendeten und den mit UN-Nummern verknüpften Bezeichnungen Unstimmigkeiten gibt, wurde entschieden, die Bezüge zu UN-Nummern zu entfernen, um irgendeine Verwirrung zu vermeiden. 19.3 Die Zusammenstellung ist ausschließlich zu Informationszwecken erarbeitet worden. Keine der Listenbezeichnungen, die in der ersten Spalte in Kleinbuchstaben ohne Fettdruck dargestellt sind, darf in den Versandpapieren als Produktbezeichnung verwendet werden. 19.4 Präfixe, die einen festen Bestandteil der Bezeichnung bilden, sind in gewöhnlicher (lateinischer) Schrifttype dargestellt und sind für die Festlegung der alphabetischen Reihenfolge der Einträge herangezogen worden. Dazu gehören beispielsweise folgende Präfixe: Mono Di Tri Tetra Penta Iso Bis Neo Ortho Cyclo 19.5 Präfixe, die für die Festlegung der alphabetischen Reihenfolge nicht herangezogen werden, sind in Kursivdruck dargestellt. Dazu zählen unter anderem die folgenden:
19.6 Die Zusammenstellung verwendet für einige der Einträge nach der Listenbezeichnung eine Anmerkung (dargestellt als (a) oder (b)), die anzeigt, dass die folgenden Bedingungen zutreffen:
